CaetanoBus breaks into the Austrian market

Caetano H2 City Gold

Austria / Portugal – Bus and coach manufacturer, CaetanoBus SA of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, has won its first tender in Austria, to supply 10 H2.City Gold electric hydrogen-powered buses to local public transport operator Wiener Linien. No delivery date was given but we do know that the buses will operate in Vienna’s city centre. Caetano has supplied over 150 H2 City buses throughout Europe, with 60 more headed to Strasbourg in Northeastern France.

The buses are to be equipped with a new generation Toyota (Toyota Motor Corporation) fuel cell stack with a nominal power of 70 kW (as opposed to 60 kW in the previous generation), making CaetanoBus the first European company to use Toyota’s fuel cell technology. The fuel cells are assembled at Toyota Motor Europe’s (TME) Research and Development facility, in Zaventem, Brussels.
