Germany – Having brought you the Daimler Truck AG 2022/2023 financial results last month, Daimler Buses has set itself a range of ambitious targets for 2030, including achieving an adjusted return on sales of nine percent by the end of the decade and eight percent by as early as 2025 (2023: adjusted return on sales of 4.7%). Overall, the business segment is set to become leaner and therefore profitable, in order to shoulder the investment into electrification.

Driving digitalisation with increasing swaths of reliable data sets and aftermarket services is another avenue to aid the ambitious bus sales targets. According to Till Oberwörder, the CEO of Daimler Buses, the decarbonisation of public transport will be the biggest driver of electric bus sales in the short to medium term. This is certainly the case in the European Union (EU) with new ICE bus sales outlawed from 2030.
