Chile closes the first quarter with falling sales of trucks and buses

Chile - The Chilean commercial vehicle (truck and bus registrations combined) market continued to fall in the first quarter of this year, with 3,306 units sold, down 20.4% on the 4,156 units sold in the same period of 2023. According to ANAC (Chile's National Automotive Association), there were total registrations of 2,735 trucks and 571 buses, the lowest number in the last three years.

In the truck segment, during the first quarter this year total sales reached 2,735, a decrease of 12.9% compared with 3,140 vehicles sold between January and March 2023. This is the second year in a row with falling truck sales during the quarter, in Q1/2022, registrations totalled 3.898 units. The bus and coach segment fell sharply during the first quarter this year to just 571 units, down by 43.8% on the 1,016 vehicles registered in the same period last year. These two registrations figures were higher thn the bus and coach registrations recorded in the same quarters of 2022 and 2021 of 398 and 454, respectively.
