Daimler launches eActros 600 customer testing programme

Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks

Germany – After debuting the Mercedes Benz eActros 600 long-haul battery-electric truck late last year, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg has started a customer testing programme with Contargo, a logistics container company and recycling company Remondis being the first participants. Contargo will transport its containers between Wörth am Rhein port and various destinations, aiming to cover a distance of 800 kilometres per day whilst Remondis will use the eActros to transport recyclable materials throughout Cologne.

Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, speaking at the launch announced that series production in Wörth, Germany, would start in Q4, 2024. Customer testing provides valuable real-world feedback not only on the truck but also on the reliability of the public charging infrastructure/network. Rådström confirmed that there are signed letters of intent from customers for thousands of eActros 600 vehicles, despite the purchase price being expected to be 2.5 times its diesel equivalent.
