Thermo King parent becomes minority shareholder in Trailer Dynamics

Germany / Ireland – In May, Trane Technologies plc, the parent of transport refrigeration specialist Thermo King based in Swords, Ireland, became a minority investor in German startup Trailer Dynamics GmbH and announced a partnership to develop electrified reefers.

In 2021, it was announced that Trailer Dynamics would work with Krone to build an electrified trailer; at Solutrans 2023, Krone presented the result of this collaboration – a semi-trailer that recovers and stores braking energy with an e-axle and battery. Now, Thermo King will cooperate with both Trailer Dynamics and Krone to develop refrigerated trailers with e-axles, in a deal similar to that between Thermo King and BPW.
