Cummins and Isuzu unveil new 6.7-litre medium-duty truck engine

6.7 litre engine from Cummins and Isuzu

USA / Japan – Drivetrain manufacturer, Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana and Japanese CV OEM Isuzu Motors Ltd, based in Tokyo, have launched a 6.7-litre engine for the Asian market. Jointly developed by the two companies, the engine will be integrated into Isuzu’s new medium-duty truck range. The engine is set to go into series production in Q4 2024, at Isuzu’s engine plant in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.

This is not the first time the two companies have collaborated, having signed the “Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership” in 2019. In 2022, the two firms produced a prototype medium-duty, battery electric truck to demonstrate in North America. Cummins integrated its PowerDrive6000 into Isuzu’s F Series medium-duty truck.
