China - The world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer, Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited (CATL), headquartered in Ningde, Fujian province, has unveiled its first EV brand dedicated specifically for commercial vehicles.

Two battery packs were introduced under the CATL Tianxing brand, including the CATL Tianxiang -L with 4C superfast charging and the CATL Tianxiang -L long range edition providing a maximum range of 500 km on a single charge.

CATL said it has focused on developing four key technologies to minimise downtime for commercial vehicle operators: super safety, super-fast charging, super-long service life and super-long range. The company said it is confident that the two battery options now available under the Tianxing brand offer operators a combination of long battery service life, high efficiency and high profitability. 

CATL confirmed the Tianxing batteries use low-lithium consumption graphite and biomimetic self-repairing SEI passivation film technology to achieve 4C super-fast charging and the 100% increase in battery life cycle, while providing significant improvements in battery reliability over the entire life cycle. The batteries “incorporate CTP (Cell to Pack) 3.0 technology and an optimized topological structure which significantly enhances grouping efficiency,” the company added.

The batteries feature “dramatically improved range performance and reduced battery weight” thanks to their super high energy density and efficient thermal management - feature dual-layer large-surface liquid cooling.

The long-range battery edition has a power capacity of 200kWh and offers a 500km range and comers with an eight-year, 800,000-kilometer warranty.
