Hyundai wins electric bus order for Japanese UNESCO site

Hyundai and Iwasaki sign electric bus sales agreement

Japan / South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company, headquartered in the South Korean capital city Seoul, has agreed to deliver five battery-powered buses to Japan’s Iwasaki Sangyo Company Ltd for use on the island of Yakushima, a Unesco World Heritage site.

Hyundai’s local subsidiary, Yokohama-based Hyundai Mobility Japan Company Ltd, said this is the company’s first order for electric buses in Japan - but hopes that the country’s carbon emissions reduction policies will generate new sales opportunities for its zero-emission vehicles.
