MAN begins production of its “last diesel engine generation”

Production of the D30 engine at MAN's Nuremberg plant

GermanyMAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of Traton based in Munich, Bavaria, has launched production of a new heavy-duty engine which it claims will be the last diesel engine generation to be made at its plant in Nuremberg.

The ‘D30’ 13-litre engine is based on the common engine platform which was developed at a group level, and which ensures commonality of parts and design across Traton’s truck brands. Announced at IAA Transportation 2024, the D30 will replace the D26 and D16 engines in the ‘TGX’ and ‘TGS’ heavy truck ranges.
