Japan - Japan’s commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw shrank by 11% to 80,450 units in the fourth quarter of 2024 from 90,750 units in the same period of the previous year, based on data released by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

Despite the decline in commercial vehicle sales, economic growth in the country accelerated to 2.8% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024 from 0.9% in the third quarter, much higher than expectations. Growth was driven mainly by strong exports, while overall domestic consumption was sluggish.
