ACT Expo 2025: Hyliion unveils fuel-agnostic generator for stationary power

Hyliion's Karno Power Module at ACT Expo

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, held between 28 April and 1 May in Anaheim, California, Hyliion Holdings Corp of Cedar Park, Texas, unveiled its fuel-agnostic generator for stationary power applications – including EV charging microgrids – during a press conference at its stand, signalling its shift away from its former electric powertrain business.

The ‘Karno Power Module’ is heavily based on the fuel-agnostic range extender which it showcased at ACT Expo two years ago, taking gaseous and liquid fuels such as natural gas, propane, ammonia, and hydrogen. Hyliion has repurposed the technology for stationary power generation, combining it with a Stirling engine to produce up to 200 kilowatts of electricity. The operator can switch between different fuels on the fly, even while the generator is running.
