Knorr Bremse and partners achieve driverless truck milestone

ATLAS-L4 partners

Germany – Commercial vehicle brake and components manufacturer Knorr-Bremse AG, based in Munich, Germany, along with Robert Bosch GmbH and ZF Friedrichshafen AG has successfully demonstrated a Level 4 driverless truck operating on public roads. The achievement marks the culmination of the “ATLAS-L4” project, funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), aimed at realising automated logistics applications for commercial vehicles.

The ATLAS-L4 truck completed an autonomous journey along a 7 km stretch of the A81 autobahn near Stuttgart, operating without driver intervention. This real-world demonstration follows two years of intensive development and testing by a consortium of 11 partners, including truck manufacturer MAN.
