Masats launches wider electric/manual bus ramp for wheelchairs at UITP Summit 2025

The RE2b bus ramp at Masats' UITP stand

GermanyMasats SA, a subsidiary of Irizar based in Barcelona, Spain, presented a new ramp combining electric and manual operation and designed particularly for wheelchairs at the UITP global summit, held in the German city of Hamburg between 15-18 June.

The ‘RE2b’, like the ‘RD1’ launched earlier this year, combines a manual ramp which folds into the floor of the bus with an electric ramp, which retracts into the bus underfloor. The new RE2b system, however, is as wide as the bus’s double doorway, making it more accessible for wheelchair passengers. Also like the RD1 system, Masats’ ‘passenger information system’ can be integrated in the RE2b ramp, glowing green when it is ready to use.
