Italy / Germany Daimler Truck Italia, the local sales arm of Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg, has delivered its first Mercedes Benz eActros 600 long-haul battery-electric trucks into the Italian market. The first units have been delivered to Italian transport company, LC3 Trasporti, as part of a 30 vehicle order. This is part of Daimler’s strategy to promote and sell its flagship battery electric HGV.

Daimler has started manufacturing components for its electric HGV at its plants in Gaggenau and Kassel. The Gaggenau plant manufactures axle and transmission components, such as shafts, gear wheels, and housings, which are then sent to the Kassel plant, where the components are assembled into complete electric axles. Gaggenau also produces structural parts for the truck’s cab. The final assembly of the eActros 600 takes place at Daimler Truck’s Wörth plant. Each electric axle undergoes an “end-of-line test” to ensure quality, safety and operational integrity.
