Steyr signs contract manufacturing agreement to build Chinese trucks for the European market

Steyr Automotive and SuperPanther representatives sign manufacturing agreement

Austria / China – In June, Steyr Automotive GmbH of Steyr, Upper Austria signed a contract manufacturing agreement with Chinese firm Jiangsu Subao Power Technology Co Ltd, formalising a partnership to sell ‘SuperPanther’-branded battery electric trucks to the European market.

The first trucks are scheduled to roll off the production line at the former MAN plant in Austria by the end of the year. The ‘eTopas 600’ tractor units are powered by e-axles and power electronics made to SuperPanther’s own design. The vehicle shown first at the recent IAA in Hanover has 621 kilowatt hours of energy storage, providing a range of 500 kilometres.
