Brazilian bus body production grows 6.9% in the first half of the year

Brazil - Brazilian bus body production grew 6.91% to 11,600 units in the first half of 2025 compared with 10,851 produced from January to June 2024, according to data from Fabus (National Association of Bus Manufacturers) in São Paulo. In June, the market, however, contracted 4.1% with 1,920 units, compared with 2,003 units in June 2024, and by 11.3% compared with May of this year (2,165 units). Of the 11,600 bus bodies manufactured, 87.1% (10,110 units) were sold domestically, representing a 10.7% increase compared with the 9,135 units sold domestically between January and June of last year, and 12.9% (1,490 vehicles) were sold internationally, representing a 24.1% increase (1,201 units).

According the Fabus, the breakdown by body type in the Brazilian market revealed a split as follows: 4,783 urban bus bodies, 3,640 interurban/city bus bodies, 2,839 microbus bodies, 205 minibus bodies, and 133 coach bus bodies were produced. The urban bus segment recorded a production of 4,783 units, representing a 10.6% increase on the 4,325 vehicles manufactured between January and June 2024. Interurban/city bus bodies showed a 15.8% increase compared to the 3,144 units produced previously, while Microbus production saw a 14.3% decline, compared with 3,313 units in the same period the previous year. Production of intercity / coach models grew by 92.8% to 133 buses, compared to 69 units. And the minibus segment totalled 205 units – a new segment that did not exist in Brazil previously.
