UK – After proposing in June to shut down its manufacturing facilities in Scotland, NFI subsidiary Alexander Dennis Ltd has since announced it will keep its sites in Larbert and Falkirk open, following a pledge by the government to save jobs threatened by the decision.
Around GBP4m has been committed to a furlough scheme that will run for twenty-six weeks, securing the vast majority of the four hundred jobs at risk. 80% of the money will be provided by the Scottish government in order to prevent bus bodybuilding being moved from Scotland to ADL’s site in Scarborough, England. The manufacturer says that the furlough scheme will “enable the required lead-times to get manufacturing back online”.
