Hyundai and GM agree to share light truck platforms in the Americas

USA / South Korea - South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group, headquartered in Seoul, and US automaker General Motors (GM), headquartered in Detroit, announced in August that they have agreed to co-develop five new vehicle models for sale in markets across the Americas, as they look to take on rising global competition. The announcement follows a framework agreement signed by the two companies in September 2024.

Four of the five models to be co-developed by the two companies will be sold across Central and South America, including a compact passenger car and SUV, a one-ton pick-up truck, and a mid-size pick-up truck, all powered by either internal combustion or hybrid powertrains. A fifth model, a battery-powered commercial van, will be sold only in North America.
