Iveco to produce heavy-duty BEV under its own brand name

Iveco Heavy-Duty BEV

Netherlands / Germany – Following the acquisition of the Nikola Iveco Europe GmbH joint venture earlier this year, Iveco SpA, has announced its plan to produce and market its Heavy-Duty Battery-Electric Vehicles (HD BEV) and Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (HD FCEV) under the Iveco brand name. The Iveco HD BEV and HD FCEV will feature an electric axle co-designed and produced by FPT Industrial, an Iveco Group NV subsidiary. Both trucks will be manufactured at the facility in Ulm, Germany, which was opened in 2021 for the assembly of Nikola ‘Tre’ battery- and fuel-cell-electric trucks for the European market.

The vehicles will utilise batteries supplied by Proterra and fuel cell technology and key components provided by Bosch. The new electric vehicles are based on the Iveco S-Way truck platform, which has been redesigned with a modular architecture to accommodate both fuel cell and battery propulsion technology.
