Schaeffler and Vitesco Technologies to combine into single “motion technology company”

Germany – Two major German automotive suppliers – Schaeffler AG of Herzogenaurach, Bavaria and Vitesco Technologies Group AG of Regensburg, Bavaria – have announced plans to merge the two businesses, creating a joint “motion technology company” with products primarily for the e-mobility market. 

Schaeffler is primarily known as a manufacturer of rolling element bearings for automotive, aerospace, and industry, but in recent years, it has expanded its portfolio of e-mobility components: including metallic bipolar plates for fuel cell systems; and an electric powertrain for a prototype autonomous shuttle built by VDL Groep
