Chile – The Chilean bus and coach market segment slipped 1.6% in 2023 by 73 units more than 3,000, down from 3,133 in 2022, according to latest registration figures collated and supplied by ANAC (Associação Nacional Automotriz de Chile).

Sale deliveries by China’s Foton Bus dominated the marketplace with 841 units registered (all-electric), more than tripling sales from the previous year. Mercedes-Benz, the dominant brand in 2022 with 703 units, saw its sale registrations fall by 40%, seemingly with another well-known Chinese brand, BYD, enjoying entry to the market in 2023 with 366 units. The Foton and BYD sales (both supplying all electric buses) were also at the expense of European brand rivals, Scania and Volvo; both brands saw their sales decline steeply.
