Germany – With series production of the Mercedes Benz eActros 600 long-haul battery-electric truck scheduled for Q4 2024 in Wörth, Germany, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg, confirmed that two prototype vehicles have embarked on, what the company is calling, the “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024.” The vehicles set off from Frankfurt earlier this month, intending to complete 13,000 kilometres, each with 40 tonnes of total towing weight. Testing will provide valuable real-world feedback, not only on the truck but also on the reliability of the public charging infrastructure/network. During the entire duration of the test, the Daimler team intends to exclusively use public chargers. The trip will incorporate a wide range of topographies, routes and climate conditions, with special attention on battery performance/energy consumption.

This complements a customer testing programme launched last year with Contargo, a German logistics container company. Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks confirmed that there are signed letters of intent from customers for thousands of eActros 600 vehicles, despite the purchase price being expected to be 2.5 times its diesel equivalent.
