CV sales in Uruguay edge up 2.8% in 2024

Uruguay - Commercial vehicle sales - including trucks, buses, coaches and minibuses - in Uruguay in 2024 grew by 2.8% to 3,226 units compared with 3,137 in 2023, according to data from the Uruguayan Automobile Dealers Association (ACAU) in Montevideo.

The truck market registered 2847 vehicles, an increase of 3.7% on 2746 units in 2023. Volkswagen with 616 units sold in 2024 surpassed the Chinese company JAC by just 12 units as truck market leader compared with JAC’s 604. However, Chinese brands dominated the top four of five positions in 2024 with Mercedes-Benz in sixth place. Despite the overall growth for the year, only two of the OEMs, Foton and FAW, increased their unit sales from the previous year.
