Germany / USAZF Friedrichshafen AG of Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany has announced that it will supply Californian startup Range Energy Inc – a tech company specialising in trailer electrification – with its latest generation of electric axles.

ZF says it will integrate its ‘AxTrax 2’ e-axle – launched at ACT Expo 2023 – into Range’s electric trailer platform. The e-trailer consists of an electric drive system, an energy storage unit, and a “smart” kingpin controlled by Range’s patented software. A semi-trailer equipped with the e-trailer system is easier to drive when fully loaded and can reduce vehicle emissions by up to 70%.
