CaetanoBus delivers first 10 hydrogen-powered buses to Madrid

Caetano H2.City Gold

Spain / Portugal – Bus and coach manufacturer, CaetanoBus SA of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, has delivered 10 H2.City Gold hydrogen buses to Spanish transport operator, Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT Madrid). The delivery took place in late December 2024, with the buses now in operation in Madrid’s city centre. These buses run with the new generation of Toyota fuel cell stack and are the first hydrogen-powered buses in EMT Madrid's fleet. They offer a range exceeding 500 kilometres and are capable of operating up to 20 hours daily. The buses will be refuelled at Madrid's first public green hydrogen infrastructure, which can refuel each bus in under 15 minutes using green hydrogen produced on-site via a PEN electrolyser with a capacity of 18 kg/h.

This order has helped CaetanoBus scale up production of the H2 City Gold model with orders for more than 115 units throughout Europe, including Germany, France, Portugal, Denmark and now Spain. Orders keep rolling in for the hydrogen-powered H2.City Gold CaetanoBus (truckandbusbuilder.com)
