USA – Mullen Automotive Inc, a manufacturer of light commercial electric vehicles based in Brea, California, has signed an agreement with Enpower Greentech Inc of Ann Arbor, Michigan to build Enpower semi solid-state batteries at a Mullen facility from next year.
The companies have agreed to manufacturer ‘Swift’ semi solid-state batteries at Mullen’s Fullerton facility in California, a 1-GWh site which it opened in 2023. The location currently has three lines installed to produce standard battery chemistries at high volume and standard chemistries and solid-state polymers at low volumes for research and development purposes. In early 2026, Mullen will integrate Enpower’s batteries with its existing solid-state production output.
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Ann Arbor, Enpower is a developer and manufacturer of advanced batteries with sites in the U.S. and China. Its Swift cells are semi solid-state based on a silicon anode, offering greater energy density, faster charging, and an extended cycle life, according to Mullen. They are suited for applications such as aerospace, marine, drones, material handling, and power tools as well as commercial vehicles. Production in Ann Arbor will begin in the third quarter of this year to offer “tariff-free, high performance pouch cells” to the market.
