ACT Expo 2025: Hyundai and Plus to develop “autonomous hydrogen freight ecosystem”

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, held between 28 April and 1 May in Anaheim, California, South Korean manufacturer Hyundai announced its collaboration with tech startup Plus to develop an “autonomous hydrogen freight ecosystem”, following on from the self-driving fuel cell truck showcased at last year’s show.

The two companies used a video to promote their concept of hub-to-hub operations using autonomous fuel cell trucks. These self-driving vehicles would be initially deployed along major freight corridors, expanding to further routes as demand grows and hydrogen becomes more widely available. The hope is that these autonomous operations will stimulate the further expansion of fuel infrastructure for hydrogen trucks, producing a “self-reinforcing cycle of vehicle adoption, infrastructure development, and lower operational costs per unit”.
