ZF begins supplying fifth-gen OptiRide systems to Hyundai

ZF's fifth-gen OptiRide electronically-controlled air suspension

Germany / South KoreaZF Friedrichshafen AG of Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany has begun supplying the fifth generation of ‘OptiRide’ systems – its electronically-controlled air suspension technology – to South Korean manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company for installation in its buses and trucks.

ZF’s latest OptiRide system is simpler and leaner than before, with fewer parts and a more compact design. The solenoid valves and pressure sensors have been combined into one “smart” pneumatic actuator, minimising the wire and pipe connections required to install the unit. Moreover, the new OptiRide processes data on the actuator and integrates application software into the vehicle’s electronic control unit, eliminating the need for an additional dedicated control unit for the system.
