Italy / SpainPEI Mobility, a supplier of bellows and gangway systems based in Bologna, Italy, has announced that it has worked with Spanish bus manufacturer Castrosua to develop an articulated version of the ‘Nelec’ electric bus range which is mounted on a chassis supplied by China’s BYD.

The 18-metre version of the Nelec range features bellows and cable guide designed and developed by PEI. The cable hose guiding system, which feeds high-voltage power between the two halves of the bus, has two patented features: a pulley to reduce cable tension when the bus is turning; and a multiple-leaf spring (rather than a conventional single-leaf design) split into sections that can be easily maintained and replaced.
