Ballard Power Systems of Vancouver has received follow-on purchase orders from Ballymena-based Wrightbus for 50 fuel cell modules to power fuel cell electric buses, for deployment in UK cities.

Alexander Dennis Ltd of Larbert, UK, part of Winnipeg, Canada’s, NFI Group Inc, says its next generation double deck hydrogen bus can deliver a zero-emission range of up to 300 miles (480km).

Hydrogen fuel cell manufacturer, Ballard Power Systems is to expand the manufacturing capacity of its proprietary membrane electrode assemblies, or MEAs– a critical component of every fuel cell – by a factor of six in early 2021 at its headquarters in Vancouver.

Fuel cell specialist, Ballard Power Systems of Vancouver has become a founding member of the new H2Bus Consortium, whose members are working together to deploy 1,000 zero-emission fuel cell electric buses (FCEBs) and related infrastructure in European cities at commercially competitive rates.
