Traton achieves sales of over 300,000 vehicles, bolstered by Navistar acquisition

Germany – Traton SE, a commercial vehicle group and subsidiary of Volkswagen AG based in Munich, Bavaria, reported that its total vehicle sales reached above 300,000 units for the very first time, thanks in large part to its acquisition of Navistar International Corporation over a year ago.
In 2022, sales of vehicles made by Traton’s brands increased by 12.6% from 271,200 units to 305,500. Reported sales of Navistar vehicles rose 174.1% from 29,900 in 2021 to 81,900 in 2022. However, this massive discrepancy is due to the fact that Navistar’s sales for 2021 were not incorporated into Traton’s results until the third quarter, meaning that the figure reported for 2021 is not an accurate record of Navistar’s performance over the whole year. (Had Navistar not been included in the group results, Traton’s unit sales would have fallen by 7%).
