Quantron begins delivery of Ballard-powered fuel cell trucks

Germany / CanadaQuantron AG of Gertshofen, Bavaria, Germany has commenced deliveries of its first hydrogen trucks powered by fuel cells supplied by Ballard Power Systems Inc of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, according to a press release dated 1 September. 

Quantron offers fuel cell electric trucks in two weight segments: light (3.49 – 7.2 metric tons) and heavy (18 – 65 metric tons). The ‘Q-Light’ range of fuel cell trucks are based on the Iveco Daily. It was originally presented at NUFAM trade fair in late 2021 with fuel cells supplied by AE Driven Solutions, a German company. The ‘Q-Heavy’ range is based on MAN TGX and TGS tractor units. Powered by Ballard’s ‘FCmove-XD’ 120-kW fuel cell system, the heavy truck has a maximum range of 1,500 kilometres (with 122-kg fuel storage capacity). It was first presented last year at IAA Transportation in Hanover.
