GoZero Group acquires BusTech Group from administrators

The BusTech ZDI-450

Australia – Australian bus manufacturer, BusTech Group* (BusTech) of Burleigh Heads, Queensland, which fell into administration late last year, has been acquired by Australian bus manufacturer, GoZero Group*, through a deed of company arrangement approved by creditors, positioning itself as Australia’s largest bus manufacturer.

GoZero will take ownership of all BusTech’s physical and operational assets, including its manufacturing facilities in Rocklea (Queensland), Edinburgh (South Australia), and Burnie (Tasmania). These will complement GoZero’s existing operations at its Nexport site in Western Sydney, significantly expanding the company’s national manufacturing footprint.

The BusTech brand will be retained following the acquisition, with plans to continue producing diesel, hybrid, and zero-emission buses, including electric and hydrogen models. The brand’s established presence in public transport contracts, including a recent AUD 11.75 million order in South Australia, is seen as a valuable asset.

The acquisition is a strategic move for GoZero, which is aiming to capitalise on growing demand for sustainable transport solutions across Australia. By absorbing BusTech’s manufacturing capabilities, customer relationships, and technical expertise, GoZero reinforces its ambitions to lead the local production of zero-emission buses and reduce reliance on imported Chinese buses.

*BusTech was created in 2021, after Fusion Capital Holdings (Fusion), the owner of Precision Buses Pty Ltd of Edinburgh, South Australia reached an agreement to acquire fellow bus manufacturer, Bustech Pty Ltd (Bustech) of Burleigh Heads, Queensland, with Fusion taking control of both companies. With the purchase concluded in December 2021, the companies now operate under the name Bustech Group. See Owner of Precision Buses buys Bustech to form BusTech Group.

**GoZero Group is a Sydney-based Australian company focused on transport and infrastructure. It designs, manufactures and supplies buses, as well as supporting charging and refuelling systems. The group operates primarily in Australia through subsidiaries like Nexport and Foton Mobility Distribution.
