- Strategy
-
Maxion Wheels has been the global market share leader in commercial vehicle steel (CVS) wheels for over 25 years. But we don’t operate in a world standing still — we serve our customers by anticipating as well as answering their needs, every day. We ground ourselves in an understanding of market dynamics and future trends, challenging ourselves constantly to exceed industry standards for what a wheel can do. This is why we are uniquely able to provide an evolving portfolio of performance-engineered commercial vehicle wheels.
The future lies in meeting a spectrum of industry and customer challenges with specialized applications. This is true for our tractor, trailer and bus Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners, as well as aftermarket distributors, who are looking to redefine the commercial vehicle. New advances in materials and processes have narrowed the weight disparity between steel and aluminum, giving us a deeper toolbox to solve for vehicle type, usage, working conditions and environmental impact. Resulting in wheels designed for a broad spectrum of buyers seeking proven solutions for safety, efficiency and durability for their customers, delivered through long-term ROI.
For commercial vehicles, it’s a pivotal moment. Populations are growing, along with urbanization, e-commerce, and last-mile delivery. At the same time, many nations are mandating greater CO2 reductions from greenhouse gases, with OEMs adhering to ever-tougher emission norms. They are looking to alternative fuels, electric powertrains, smart technology and crucially, the wheel to improve fuel efficiency, extend battery range and increase freight capacity. Maxion is ideally positioned at a time of change in the mobility sector, with stricter industry regulations and higher operational standards.
Our scale around the world and tenure in the business set us apart from other wheel suppliers. This gives us a deep well of know-how to serve the world’s customers, who operate in widely different contexts – across increasingly segmented long-haul, heavy-duty and light commercial vehicle fleets traversing different road infrastructure and regulations. The clear advantage of our centrally-integrated network of expertise is a continually evolving portfolio applied globally across diverse local markets.
The commercial vehicle is the workhorse of our planet. Which is why every wheel we make is made for a specific purpose and made to last. We simply do not design for a disposable wheel. Our promise to every customer is to maximize value through unmatched integration of materials, engineering and production.
- Sustainability Goals
-
Our Climate Commitment is Driving Change
A Carbon Neutral Future For All
We believe in a carbon-neutral future for our operations by 2040, our industry and for mobility. Our transition plan, ROADMAP ZERO, is aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement to limit the global temperature to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. With our commitments to the United Nations Global Compact and SBTi Net-Zero Standard we are taking ambitious steps in the development of sustainable operations, supply chains and mobility solutions.
Progress with Purpose
We are decarbonizing our wheel production with clean energy, more efficient product designs and processes, and lower carbon materials. By 2025, we will reduce CO2 emissions by 30 percent. By 2030, we are on course to deliver CO2 reductions of 70 percent. More information can be found in the latest Iochpe-Maxion Sustainability Report.
Action With Energy
We are committed to continuous improvements in the energy efficiency of our operations. We are sourcing more green electricity from suppliers, investing in renewable energy generation at our sites and working to integrate sustainable biogas.
Responsible Sourcing
With 60-70% of Maxion Wheels’ total revenue purchased goods, our global supply chain is a major factor in the company’s sustainability targets and value creation. To achieve the necessary improvements in our sustainability performance, continuous and purposeful collaboration with our supply chain partners are a company priority. Maxion Wheels focus on Responsible Sourcing resulted in a statement meant to inspire suppliers and sub-suppliers to strive for transforming their operations towards and beyond the global sustainability agenda.
Designing With Intelligence
We are supporting customer climate targets with wheel design and process advances that maximize the benefits of lower carbon materials to reduce production cycle CO2 emissions, as well as making vehicle wheels lighter, more aerodynamic and more energy efficient.
Conserving Resources
We are focused on producing our products with the least amount of environmental impact by working with renewable energy, green gas, and water recycling and purification systems. We support the increase in use of recycled materials and the introduction of green steel and aluminum in the development of circular economy models, which keep materials in use for longer, minimizing landfill waste and CO2.
