130 units of the ‘Urbino 12 hydrogen’ line will be delivered over the next few years, the vast majority of which (127) will be delivered to the Metropolitan City of Bologna.

The company announced that after signing an agreement to supply an Italian public procurement company with 80 e-Atak buses in 2021, it is set to provide another 320 electric minibuses, over the course of the next 18 months. The agreement covers Karsan’s six-metre e-Jest electric bus and the eight-metre e-Atak.

The order comprises 135 E-Way buses in the 12-metre version and 90 articulated buses measuring 18 metres. 28 of these will be Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) models. The buses are to be produced at Iveco’s new Italian bus building plant in Foggia, Southern Italy.

The order from CTM Cagliari comprises a mixture of standard and articulated Urbino electric models: 80 12-metre vehicles and 18 artic vehicles.

These tests were designed to see how the vehicle copes in extreme temperatures and to try out the newly developed thermal management system. The engineers were also interested to monitor how the fuel cell system operates at extreme altitudes.

The Italian public transport operator, SASA, has ordered nine 18-metre-long articulated buses with a fuel cell range extender which will be used in northern Italy from the end of this year with deliveries scheduled between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.

Up to 280 units of Rampini’s 8-metre electric bus, the ‘Eltron’, are now available for public transport operators in Italy to order with certain customisation options.
