San Francisco's Municipal Transportation Agency has ordered three electric buses as part of a trial, adding to the fleet of hybrid vehicles aimed at tackling air pollution in the inner city.

The 40-foot bus has a range of up to 290 miles and is manufactured at a facility in Plattsburgh, New York.

North American transit bus manufacturer, Nova Bus, has confirmed Chicago Transit Board approval for the purchase of up to 600, 40-foot clean-diesel buses.

Nova Bus has announced it has won a contract to supply 165, 40ft hybrid buses (with BAE Systems’ hybrid propulsion system) with options for a further 126 hybrid buses and 209 diesel buses from New York’s MTA.
