At this past Commercial Vehicle Show, which took place in Birmingham from 23 – 25 April, Electra Commercial Vehicles announced plans to enter the upcycling (repowering) business with the launch of Electra Exchange.

Kia said the new “Tasman” will be a multi-purpose model aimed at the “working” and “life-style” sub-segments of the global pickup truck market.

The buses, which are the first of a 15-strong order which will be fulfilled before the end of the year, are Mercedes-Benz ‘Intouro’ intercity buses which Safra has retrofitted with electric drivetrain components, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage tanks.

The company announced its full-year financial results for 2023, which included a net loss of USD 54.2m (2022: USD110.1m) and a net revenue of USD 22.1m in 2023, an increase of 147% from USD 8.9m in 2022. The increase was primarily due to an increase in vehicle sales and spare parts sales, including the delivery of 250 autonomous delivery vans in China.

The brand’s locally assembled Euro V range now comprises the heavy-duty UD Quester and medium-duty UD Croner models.

Of the firm order for 80 buses, 32 will be fitted with another set of doors on the other side of the vehicle, allowing for dual-side boarding.

Sojitz Fuso said the Canter Modern PUV Class 2 aims to provide a reliable, durable and efficient transportation solution to Philippine commuters.

Isuzu said its new PUV was developed to support the Philippine Department of Transportation’s PUV Modernization Programme (PUVMP), which aims to replace the ageing fleet of “jeepney” public transport vehicles across the Philippines.

The tests are being carried out using BYD’s B70 bus by the company’s local distributor, Rever Automotive Thailand Company Ltd, picking up and dropping off passengers at shopping malls and tourist attractions across Bangkok.

Rêver Automotive Thailand Company Ltd is the name of the Thai importer and distributor BYD vehicles, which will now be responsible for assembling the vehicles through a subsidiary at a facitlity near Bangkok.
