The facility will increase the supply of its high-powered fuses for EVs and other applications. The 10 million USD investment in this facility is part of a 750 million USD investment strategy into the company’s North American manufacturing base.

The first project is a joint program with Czech truck manufacturer, Tatra Trucks to co-develop a specialised off-road truck prototype called the “Battery Electric Tatra Truck” with multi-speed Transmission (BETTT). The eHeater controller warms up the diesel exhaust after-treatment catalyst to reduce emissions, mainly nitrogen oxide (NOx) exhaust emissions. The product is seen as aiding those engine manufacturers to better meet current and even stricter emissions regulation, such as the upcoming Euro VII standards.

The decision symbolises a move towards electrification whilst the company will still serve the traditional ICE powertrains as the industry transitions to zero-emission transportation.

Eaton says the high-power lock box (HPLB) connectors in its eMobility’s Power Connections portfolio save space, cost less, and are easier to manufacture than competing products.
