The company’s electric heavy goods division has moved into a new HQ in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, UK.

The 2024 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham from 23 – 25 April, was a somewhat sombre affair without the truck OEMs, yet plenty of exhibitors turned up to display their new product offerings. Of course, the T&BB team was in attendance to bring you all the latest news from the show.

At this past Commercial Vehicle Show, which took place in Birmingham from 23 – 25 April, Electra Commercial Vehicles announced plans to enter the upcycling (repowering) business with the launch of Electra Exchange.

Over 200 exhibitors gathered at this past Road Transport Expo (RTX), which took place from the 28th-30th of June at the NAEC Stoneleigh, in Warwickshire, UK. The T&BB team was out in full force to bring you all the latest news from the show.

Electra’s involvement in the project began in January 2023 with a GBP 19 million/42-month project to build a pilot vehicle that demonstrates improved technological capabilities with range, efficiency, and design of components.

The new Eletra e-bus is a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Caio.

The 17Xe ePowertrain, which is being tested in an Electra truck, is the result of a collaborative effort between Meritor and Danfoss Editron.

The TITAN-eRR20 is mounted on an Electra e-Star electric chassis, with charging taking 5 hours.

The Electra eCargo Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) travelled 208 miles (334 km) a day from the supermarket’s depot in Sherburn-on-Elmet to Newcastle and then back again.

UK supermarket giant, Sainsburys, has begun trials of the truck as part of the Tees Valley Hydrogen Vehicle Project using the hydrogen refuelling station at the Teesside international airport.

Meritor announced that in May this year it opened a new purpose-built test chamber for heavy-duty electric powertrains and drivetrain development at its brake manufacturing and global disc brake research facility in Cwmbran, UK.

Meritor is supplying its 'Blue Horizon 14Xe ePowertrain' to Electra Commercial Vehicles for a battery-electric road-sweeper prototype, slated to begin testing in Wales next year.
