The facility, which has been operational since July 2023, allows testing of both individual components and complete vehicles in real driving conditions, simulating all types of road and climate conditions (between -15 °C and +55°C in all seasons).

The deal between the two companies is aimed at helping legacy fleet operators transition to electric by providing a comprehensive offering for fleet deployment and charging infrastructure. The data provided will offer operators information on the status of their vehicles, batteries and charging infrastructure, enabling them to optimise their fleets.

The order comprises 135 E-Way buses in the 12-metre version and 90 articulated buses measuring 18 metres. 28 of these will be Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) models. The buses are to be produced at Iveco’s new Italian bus building plant in Foggia, Southern Italy.

At the first UITP summit in four years, we report on developments related to two topics: electric vehicles and artificial intelligence.

The T&BB team attended UITP in Barcelona to bring you the latest news which included the debut of the first electric version of the 13m suburban Crossway intercity bus (Crossway Le Elec), and which was accompanied by a 9.5m electric urban midibus from the E-Way range. 

The intercity e-bus launch is in line with its roadmap of offering a fully electric bus range in 2023. 

With the first order expected in Q1 2024, the Urbanway was chosen as part of the 2030 Prague Climate Plan which calls for 75% of the buses in the city to be completely emission-free or low-emission vehicles.

With over 100 staff, the plant has a production capacity of 1,000 vehicles per year, including hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric buses, with alternative propulsion systems produced in Turin.

The 2023 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham from the 18th – 20th of April, was an exciting time for the UK truck market with 223 exhibitors displaying their new product offerings.

The 238 Crossway class II (12 metre) buses are being delivered to the Sardinian-based public transport company, ARST, with the first 144 having been delivered in March and the remaining 94, being shipped in June 2023. 

With deliveries beginning in the second half of 2023, this order follows the announcement in January of a 500 articulated E-WAY electric city bus order from Flemish government-owned public transport operator De Lijn.

The 10th edition of Busworld Turkey is set to take place between the 29th – 31st of May 2024, in Halls 1 & 3 of the Istanbul Expo Centre in the Turkish capital.
