The funding is to be used to support deployment of 350 fully air-conditioned, 9-metre electric buses across eight cities in Uttar Pradesh.

It is understood these are Eicher's first ebus deliveries.

This is the first time Eicher has fitted an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) in the Pro 8035XM tipper; the E-Smart Shift AMT is derived from Volvo Truck’s I-Shift AMT.

This being one of the biggest orders for its luxury coaches, the vehicles are to be built in full at the Volvo Buses India factory in Hoskote in accordance with the Automotive Indian Standard (Code AIS 119).

The plan is to work together to ensure industry-leading vehicle engineering, data integration and safety features are incorporated in these buses.

The Eicher Pro 2055 EV has a gvw of 5.5t, a 4x2 axle configuration and is powered withby a 64kWh battery ranging upto 174km in a single charge.

The order, valued at approximately USD 60.9 million, includes 50, Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches and 500, Eicher Intercity 13.5m2 AC and non-AC sleeper coaches.

Commercial vehicle manufacturer, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV) of Pithampur - the joint-venture subsidiary of Sweden’s Volvo AB and Eicher Motors Ltd of Gurugram (New Delhi), India – has launched a new range of 12.4 m intercity coaches named Eicher 6016 R LPO.

VECV has delivered 50 units of its 24-seat Eicher CNG AC buses to transport operator, PMPML, the first time the joint venture has delivered gas buses to the city of Pune.
