The company cut 150 jobs in the U.S. and Canada amid financial pressure as it seeks profitability. The cuts came in the manufacturing and administrative segments of the business.

The first deliveries of the second-generation vehicle are set for May 2024 and will be produced at the new truck production plant in Lazkao, Spain.  According to Irizar, the truck is lighter, has a redesigned cab and has made significant improvements to its batteries.

The trucks are equipped with an e-motor offering nominal power of 120kW and 190kW output and nominal torque of 950 and 1,850Nm respectively (2,600 and 3,500Nm peak performance). 

The order consists of 78 new Fuso trucks, including 15 Canter parcel trucks, 60 Fuso Shogun heavy-duty trucks and three medium-duty Fighter trucks.

Irizar Southern Africa appointed Danie Human as the new General Manager, effective immediately.

Patrick Farbrace will succeed Gareth Lumsdaine as the new Truck Business Line Director of Iveco UK, effective immediately.

Development work on the solid-state batteries will take place at the new facility in Fullerton, which covers 122,000 square feet.

Hyzon announced plans for a two-vehicle commercial trial with New Zealand’s largest truck operator, the TR Group, beginning in March 2024. Hyzon will power two FCEVs, fitted with its single-stack 200kW fuel cell system which will be deployed for three months.

Representing an approximate investment of USD600m, the new facility will be developed along “vertical production” principles a la Tesla, meaning that battery and vehicle assembly will take place at the same location.

Albert Burleigh has been named VP of Alternative Fuels and Dr Jeff Van Assche, VP of Purchasing.

The 44-tonne E-Tech T and C trucks will be assembled on the same production line as their diesel-powered counterparts at Bourg-en-Bresse.
