The public demonstration of the prototype took place in the town of Plattling and was attended by Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, Hubert Aiwanger, and Professor Monika Schnitzer, who is the Chairwoman of the German Council of Economic Experts, along with two hundred guests.

The company has now built a pavilion named the “Actros 600 Experience World” in Wörth, where customers, clients and the general public can learn about the vehicle as well as the company’s history. At this year’s ‘Global Technology Day’ – held at its test track on 27 June in Jeversen, to the north of Hanover – ZF Group’s CEO, Dr Holger Klein, observed that, while sales of fully electric cars are slowing down, hybrids are seeing “a renaissance”. Ballard launched its 9th generation 120kW fuel cell engine (FCmove-XD) for the HGV market which is set to go into series production by the end of 2024 at the Ballard factory in Oregon, with plans to move production to its future fuel cell production Gigafactory in Rockwall, Texas. 

The companies are set to integrate Hexagon’s NG/RNG systems with Brudeli’s plug-in PowerHybrid technology to allow fleet operators the ability to maintain diesel ICE duty cycles while providing fuel cost savings and complying with Near Zero Emission Vehicles. Targeting the class 7 and 8 North American truck market, the partnership also aims to help OEMs achieve their various decarbonisation goals.

HVS announced a new deal to supply 30 fuel cell HGVs to UK logistics company, Explore Plant & Transport Solutions. Furthermore, the agreement encompasses a maintenance, servicing and driver training (safe use of hydrogen) contract.

With series production expected in Q4 2024, Daimler has launched the eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024 which saw two vehicles set off from Frankfurt earlier this month, intending to complete 13,000 kilometres, each with 40 tonnes of total towing weight. The trip will incorporate a wide range of topographies, routes and climate conditions, with special attention on battery performance/energy consumption.

The companies announced that they had successfully tested their integrated electric drive system on a Class 7 demonstration vehicle at Eaton’s proving grounds in Marshall, Michigan.
