The Lion Electric Company, manufacturer of all-electric medium and heavy-duty urban vehicles, has been successful in using its electric school buses to supply electricity back to the grid, as part of the company’s vehicle-to-grid (V2G) pilot deployment in White Plains.

The Board of Directors of the Ministry of Education of the Brazilian Government, on January 6, 2021, has indefinitely stopped the competitive tender for the supply of 6,900 buses under the Caminho da Escola Program (Federal School Bus Programme).

“At Navistar we are power agnostic, we offer diesel (Cummins), gasoline (PSI), gas (PSI) and in the near future, electric powered vehicles,” stated Gary Horvat,  Navistar, Vice President eMobility.

Last year Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus announced plans to allocate BRA110m million (USD27m) to make the necessary adjustments at its Resende (RJ) plant to tailor its production lines to begin assembling electric trucks as soon as 2020.

BMB Mode Center Ltda, the vehicle modification specialist for Volkswagen Trucks and Buses, has just completed 18 years of operations, manufacturing some 135,000 custom-built bodies in that timeframe.
