The importance of fire suppression systems in vehicles can be seen first-hand in January this year, with an electric double-decker bus catching fire in Wimbledon, UK.

European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) has elected Harald Seidel (President of DAF Trucks), as Chairman of the Commercial Vehicle Board for 2024. The UK government has announced an award of GBP7m for the development of a hydrogen fuel station for heavy goods vehicles in the Tees Valley combined authority, following an award last year of GBP8m for the deployment of fuel stations and hydrogen-powered vehicles in the area.

According to the Department for Transport, all new sales of cars and vans powered solely by an internal combustion engine (ICE) will be banned by 2035, with heavy-goods vehicles following suit in 2040. This has now become law in the UK, as part of the country's Net Zero Strategy.

The hub currently consists of four charging bays; early next year, Milence will double the capacity and add a roof structure to cover each bay.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has mandated that all ICE heavy-duty trucks (>14,000 pounds) operating in the state be registered on the state’s Clean Truck Check* database by the end of January 2024 to undergo emissions inspections bi-annually.
