BYD Brasil Ltd, in partnership with body builder, Marcopolo SA, have launched the first intercity electric coach, which went on trial for 90 days in June with transport operator, Expresso Princesa dos Campos.

July saw Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Ltda (a Traton Group company) deliver the first of 100 e-Delivery all-electric light trucks to Ambev, who has ordered 1,600 e-trucks in total.

Marcopolo SA, with a 51.6% market share amongst the body builders, this month launched its Generation 8 luxury coach model.

In July 2001, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda registered its first sale of the O 500 bus chassis; model O 500 U 1725/59, which was then seen to set new standards for quality, technology, comfort, and safety of buses and coaches in Brazil.

Sales of trucks and bus chassis by Iveco Latin America Ltda grew 71% in the first half of this year, well above the market average, which was around 50%.

TatraBras Ltd, a subsidiary of off-road truck builder, Tatra Trucks AS – has presented to the state of  Paraná its first two 6x6 off-road trucks for the Brazilian market.
