At its stand, Thermo King present its ‘e200’, ‘e300’, and ‘e1000’ transport refrigeration units and the ‘Precedent S-750i’, a hybrid TRU.

Through this partnership, Thermo King will offer refrigerated trailers to customers in the Americas which are powered – wholly or in part – by electric axles developed by Range.

The ‘TracKing Pro’ expands on the basic offering which is installed as standard in all ‘Precedent’ transport refrigeration units since 2018.

In partnership with trailer refrigeration specialist, Thermo King, axle and suspension manufacturer BPW Group has been developing a new axle module, called ePower, for recovering energy from the trailer axles while braking and converting it to electricity to power a refrigeration unit.

Part of a portfolio of new EV products which Thermo King calls “evolve”, the ‘e1000’ is a transport refrigeration unit (TRU) designed for rigid trucks carrying temperature-controlled goods.

The two partners will offer Minnesota's first-ever graduate credential programme in electrification engineering, equipping students with engineering and policy knowledge related to EVs.

Its ConnectedSuite portfolio includes its ‘TracKing’ system, which allows for remote control and monitoring of transport refrigeration units and trailers, and which can now be controlled via a mobile app and integrated with selected digital platforms.

The Precedent S-750i, based on the company's S-Series, is reportedly its first TRU to use a diesel electric architecture with integrated shore power, designed to run more efficiently on shore power than diesel.

The manufacturer of refrigeration systems will expand its operations by adding nearly 300,000 sq ft to the existing structure by mid-2023.

R452A, which is the refrigerant used in Thermo King's products for EMEA markets, will become the standard for its North American products, replacing R404A.

Thermo King exhibited a range of products at Solutrans, including a hybrid-electric trailer refrigeration unit, a trailer axle for recuperating lost energy, and a remote thermal management platform.

The company is investing USD100m over the next three years to deliver fully-electric products in every segment of the cold chain in the EMEA and the Americas.
