Blue Bird has expanded its production capacity to 5,000 electric school buses a year after it recently opened its ‘Electric Vehicle Build-up Centre’ at the company’s primary U.S. production facility in Fort Valley, Georgia.

The recent expansion involved deploying a third 2X8 assembly line to increase production rates, meaning that the annual total capacity of the facility now hits 2,400 vehicles per year.

The investment will go into preparing the plant for production of its next-generation internal combustion engine (ICE) for full-size light-duty trucks.

Starting in January 2025, the Urbasolar group will supply Keolis with an annual 18 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity generated at French solar farms. This will allow Keolis to supplement its energy supply at a fixed, long-term price, whilst reducing its CO2 emissions by an estimated 290 tonnes of per year.

The 64,000 square metre facility in San Luis Potosi will house a new manufacturing facility for power electronic components and electric motors with 380 new jobs to be created over the next five years. The facility is planned to come on line incrementally with phase 1 beginning in Q2 2024.

The company has acquired two Seattle-based companies, Integrated Systems and Controls and InControl in order to strengthen its HVAC business in North America.

By the end of 2023, the factory will be producing up to 2,500 electric school buses a year whilst employing 1,400 new staff members.

KG Mobility (known previously as Ssangyong Motor Company), has bought electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, Edison Motors Company, and will change the name to KGM Commercial.

Farizon plans to use the funds to strengthen its R&D and new product development operations, as it looks to consolidate its position as China’s leading manufacturer of new energy commercial vehicles.

The company recently installed more than 6,000 photovoltaic solar panels on the roof of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth, Germany. The system generates 3,000 MWh of electricity a year.
