Scania says it is working with Spanish coachbuilder Irizar to integrate the ‘i6s Efficient’ with a Scania gas-powered chassis, with a target completion date of end-of-2025.

ADL announced that the Plaxton (Panther & Leopard) coaches are to be built on the Volvo B8R chassis with a choice of I-Shift (automated manual) and automatic transmissions. These coaches are set to be built at ADL’s Scarborough plant, which ADL says, “benefits from a flexible set-up that allows lines to be switched between coach and bus production.”

Production is to take place at Temsa’s factory in Adana, with a prototype expected by next year and series production towards the end of 2025. Both engineering teams will be working closely together in order to meet these deadlines.

The order, valued at approximately USD 60.9 million, includes 50, Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches and 500, Eicher Intercity 13.5m2 AC and non-AC sleeper coaches.

The company will provide European customers with its electric bus charging solutions. Dietrich Müller, previously Head of E-Systems at Daimler Buses has been appointed Managing Director of Daimler Buses Solutions.

The BRA14m (USD2.8m) deal, which was first announced last November, was finalised in February this year.
