Clean Bus Solutions, a JV established by Blue Bird and finance house, Generate Capital, will allow school districts to pay a set fee per month as a way of procuring electric buses; making electric school buses more affordable and available to U.S. school districts. The service also includes charging solutions, maintenance and fleet planning services.

Blue Bird zero-emission school buses serve school districts across 41 states. According to the company, by replacing 1,500 diesel school buses with electric equivalents, they are saving 16,000 thousand metric tons of CO2 annually!

Blue Bird has expanded its production capacity to 5,000 electric school buses a year after it recently opened its ‘Electric Vehicle Build-up Centre’ at the company’s primary U.S. production facility in Fort Valley, Georgia.

The school bus utilises 196kWh batteries which have 25 percent more capacity than previous generations and fast charging capabilities allows the bus to be fully charged in three hours. Furthermore, this generation is 450 kg (1000 pounds) lighter, making it more efficient than its predecessors.
